Ian is back at university now, and while he doesn't usually have to catch the train for that, the fact that he's going to visit a girl from one of his classes so they can study together meant he's sitting on a train now, and eavesdropping on the conversations around him. There's a conversation occurring that leaves him absolutely flabbergasted - enough for him to start broadcasting reactions over the Ether.
He's not serious --
He wants to summon a what ---
Astral project into Hell?
Kill Satan ---
And then God?
Ian's somewhat astounded by the level of stupidity of the person talking, and the temptation to get up and bitch smack some sense into them is remarkable.
People honestly can't be this stupid without some sort of mental health problem. I am sure. |

Ian's concentration on the Ether is preceded by the sound of someone humming 'There Is Nothing Like a Dame' from Roger and Hammerstein's South Pacific. There's a sense of cheerfulness that fades as the humming does, whatever Ian was doing before this clearly wasn't about to be as fun as the story he was about to tell.
So, weird night last night. At a pub with some mates, minding our own business, the usual. Suddenly this old guy jumps up out of his booth in the corner, and races out of the place, screaming about the end being fucking night and how we all needed to get the hell out of London. So I chase after him, make sure he's alright, to find he's ditched all his clothes to streak down the middle of the street. Nearly got hit by a car while he did, so he dashed down a lane.
There's a feeling of a sigh from Ian, and the feeling you get when you're telling a story you wish was funny, that the punchline to the joke was coming up next. Sadly enough for Ian, it wasn't.
Guy had a heart attack amongst the fucking trash, and the demon riding him pissed off in the process after having its fun. Real nice. Guy died before the ambulance got there.
This is one of the many reasons why Ian Stewart-Murray really fucking hated demons. |
